CDDM 2007

2nd International Workshop on Chance Discovery & Data Mining

CDDM 2007 Call For Paper

CDDM07 is aimed at tuning the state of two core technologies of data based support of human activitied. One is data ming for the discovery of novel, useful, and nontrivial knowledge. The other is chance discovery, i.e., computational methods for the discovery of, and human cognition of events significant for decision making. Chance discovery has been initiated as conference sessions in 2000, and as publications of books and journal issues. A chance might be a rare event providing opportunities or risks for human life. Noticing such an event is described as discovery of a chance. Contributiors so far to chance discovery has been the mixture of researchers in artificial intelligence, social science, and cognitive science because human's and humans' cognition of chances aided by the machine visualization of data have been integrated for realizing chance discovery. After the six years, publishing six books and seven special issues of journals, we are at a time to feedback our lessons in chance discovery, to the original goal of knowledge discovery and data mining. Although knowledge discovery aims at more general patterns than a temporary event, we can extend the ripen fruits of/to each other and expect the new birth of novel, useful, and nontrivial technologies.
